Bernard Williams
Williams [wiʹljəmz], Sir Bernard, 1929–2003, brittisk filosof, professor i Cambridge 1967–79, Provost vid King’s College, Cambridge, 1979–87, professor i filosofi vid University of California, Berkeley, från 1988 och professor i moralfilosofi i Oxford från 1990.
Williams författarskap hade stor bredd, men tyngdpunkten låg inom etiken: Utilitarianism: For and Against (med J.J.C. Smart, 1973), Problems of the Self (1973), Descartes: The Project of Pure Inquiry (1978), Moral Luck (1981), Ethics and the Limits of Philosophy (1985) och Shame and Necessity
