Damian Lewis tog examen 1993 från Guildhall School of Music and Drama i London och anställdes därefter på Royal Shakespeare Company. Efter att ha sett honom som Laertes i en uppsättning av ”Hamlet” handplockade Steven Spielberg Lewis till sin TV-serie ”Band of Brothers” (2001), i vilken han fick sitt genombrott.
